How My Social Life Change With The Advent of E-Commerce
With the world at our finger tips, e-commerce and m-commerce
has, undoubtedly, changed our lives in various ways. The internet is one of the
greatest twentieth century breakthrough in the world. Personally, I am
dependent on the internet, specially e-commerce business, in my daily life. My
family and I rely greatly on the internet, even more now, due to the sudden coronavirus
outbreak.
We go online, not only to buy mobile phones, laptops,
clothes or shoes, but also nearly everything that is available at one click,
from groceries to jewelleries to garbage bags. It is easier for me to compare
products online based on prices and benefits and then make a decision. E-commerce
has opened the door for me to shop from anywhere at any time. This has
definitely affected my social life in some way. Earlier, whenever I used to go
for shopping in the local markets to find products at a cheaper price,
bargaining used to be like a guilty pleasure. Going out, having a ‘bargain’
conversation with the retailer. Now, that is not the case anymore. To find a
good product at a cheaper price has become easier, by comparing a product on
various e-commerce websites and making the best purchase.
To buy something customisable, now there is no need for me,
to run to various shops trying to make the person understand, what I exactly
want. Now, I can get anything customised online by myself without any
unnecessary hassle. Another major change in my life will be going to medical
shops to buy medicines. Because I do not find time to do all the tasks
physically by myself, I usually order my mother’s prescribed medicines and my
dog’s medicine or other pet supplies, online. This has become a monthly task
majorly because of the pandemic. Doctor’s consultation for my mother as also
being done online. Physical interaction will people have become lesser day by
day.
With the advent of e-commerce and m-commerce, I have usually
used my phone to ask for directions or the address for a destination, but now I
can use my smartphone or my Amazon echo to make a purchase. This is an upcoming
and ever-evolving technology that e-commerce and m-commerce has opened the door.
Amazon ‘Alexa’ is now a friend in my family. I can ask Alexa to make a purchase
for me and in just a few seconds, the order is placed. Due to the pandemic,
even after lockdown I had purchased groceries and vegetables online for some
time, rather than going to a local market. Human interaction has become much
less.
It goes without saying that e-commerce has greatly impacted my
everyday life. From impacting how I shop to where I shop, I can have everything
at one click on my phone. Technology has and probably will continue to make our
lives much more convenient.
